World's Best Big Sister!
Mommy and daddy told me that everyone keeps asking how I'm adjusting to the whole "big sister" thing. Well, thanks for asking! I'm doing quite well, if I do say so myself! Now, the day Hayden Kate and my folks came home from the hospital was not my best :o(. Pretty much nothing made me happy and I threw myself onto the floor several times...not pretty! And to top things off, mommy was all emotional and kept crying about it. But...the next day was better, and the next day was even better than that. In fact, I've discovered that I LOVE being a big sister!
The first words out of my mouth each morning are, "Where's Hayden Kate?" and my face lights up when we run in to find her :o). I love it when she is awake and spend that time trying to read her books and dance for her. I also LOVE doing tummy time with Hayden Kate but I just can't figure out why she won't look in my direction the whole time. When mommy changes her diaper, I change my baby doll's diaper too and I'm great at throwing the dirty ones away. I haven't even complained once when she cries and I really don't mind when mommy has to hold her. Mommy's biggest concern was how I would handle all the time while she was feeding Hayden Kate. Well, so far so good! I have a few new puzzles that keep me busy for a LONG time and we read a ton of books too. And of course there is the dress up box :o). I'm already very protective of "my Hayden Kate" (that's what I call her). Just today when mommy's friend came to visit, I wasn't so sure she should hold Hayden so I kept telling mommy to take her and hold her :o). Now, in the spirit of full disclosure, I will admit that I have become a bit of a "paci thief" and have been caught in the act several times. My defense is that I just want to be able to put it back in :o). And if that's the worst I'm doing, I'd say that's pretty good.
I overheard mommy and daddy saying how proud they are of how I'm handling my new job as a big sister. I think I'm doing even better than they expected! Of course, we all know that God is certainly blessing us with a smooth transition and we're all VERY thankful for that! And we'll just keep praying that it continues :o).
That's it for now, gotta go play with my Hayden Kate!
